Based on the Paramat workshop and research into systemic graphic design in the 1960s and 1970s, the students developed a system to playfully create a typeface system—first analog, then digital. The result is a workshop guide, a catalogue of forms, and a typeface. In the course of their project, they have tried many things, discovered the unexpected, and gained important insights:
1. A system is only as good as you understand how to use it.
2. A good result comes from the right balance of rules and rule-breaking.
3. Don't anticipate the outcome, but look at what happens in the process.
