The idea was to bring typography to life—both analog and digital—through grid, transformation, poetry, and sound.
The analog Transformation creates the illusion of real motion: a sheet of translucent paper with three lines of typography is bent and deformed. In the digital poster, the line “Only those who are ready to set out and travel” from Hermann Hesse’s poem Steps (1877–1962) move rhythmically across the format, forming a staircase that visually echoes the poem’s central metaphor.
For Grid, I was inspired by the systematic designs of Herbert W. Kapitzki (1925–2005). I repeatedly rotated simple shapes within a grid until new patterns emerged. Building on that, I digitally animated pixel-based letterforms—each representing different ice cream flavors—to create the impression of a flowing wave.
