In the work MF*G, the potentials and challenges of an alternative working practice are worked out.
At a time when gender inequality and patriarchal structures are increasingly coming into focus in various areas of society, alternative forms of organization are gaining in importance. In this debate, collective working was examined as an alternative model with regard to patriarchal labour structures. The formation of social communities has also helped to strengthen identification with feminist concerns and goals in the past. We join forces to develop and realize new ideas, overcome adverse situations together, and create new aesthetics, which usually goes hand in hand with a questioning of hierarchies.
Collaboration in collectives offers numerous advantages, and not just for us designers. The coming together of different minds, perspectives, and technical skills creates enormous potential in the creative process with exciting results. It enables us to learn from each other and benefit together. But what is the secret of this new, targeted, and temporary collective form of work? This question has inspired us to explore and analyze the qualities of collective work and to put them into a contemporary context through interviews with various collectives.
