As music is perceived via the ear and initially has no concrete form, its visual translation leaves a lot of room for interpretation and represents an exciting field for design. This student tried her hand at such a translation as part of her bachelor’s thesis, setting out to find a visual language for the music of the electro-punk band Tschaika Drive. The name of the band is a reference to the cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova, who is known by the nickname ‘Tschaika’ and was the first woman to fly into space in 1963. While Tschaika personifies the band’s feminist concerns, her spacecraft is the main protagonist of the design, moving through the spheres of outer space in an abstracted form.
