We were inspired and enriched by the students' workshop on affirmative design positions, after which we worked in small groups to translate the acquired knowledge into posters. The result was a variety of creative analyses of the researched material on the subject affirmation:
An affirmative stance in design—understood as the acceptance and uncritical application of conventions and rules—embraces established norms. In relatively peaceful and economically prosperous times, there is no need to take sides. Consequently, no political position is required. Design becomes a neutral craft: it should be clear, transparent, objective, functional, and aesthetically refined.
Affirmative design may not be provocative, but it is exemplary in its execution—exemplary in the truest sense of the word. The workshop encourages participants to engage in good design in a playful and experimental way.
